Don’t Worry..

Psalm 37 (NLT)

1 Don’t worry about the wicked or those who do wrong
2 For like grass, they soon fade away, like spring flowers, they soon wither.

The first thing God says is a familiar phrase from our Lord-
DON’T WORRY
in this psalm, He is encouraging us not to worry, not to give thought or concern about people who do wrong, who act wickedly because from God’s perspective they are like grass – although it seems green and lush and tall, it will be dried up and fade away.
The Lord goes on to describe another visual example for us-a spring flower.
I personally love tulips and daffodils that bloom in early spring here in the northeastern US. In March, when everything is starting to thaw out from a dull gray and cold winter, to see the beautiful colors of brilliant red, purple, yellow – it really brings joy and hope that spring is coming!
The point is, even though these spring flowers with all their beauty seem to be springing up all around, they only last a very short time.
What I believe God is saying is do not worry because like the described grass and flowers, those who defy Him and His Ways will not last.
He wants us to look at Him.
He lasts FOREVER!
He is Eternal.
He wants our perspective to be Eternal.
It’s in this place of Eternal perspective that we really find, receive and walk in and rest in TRUE PEACE.
This IS the peace Jesus spoke of when He said “ My peace I give you, not the kind the world gives, do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. “ John 14:27
There is so much that can cause worry as we see wickedness, godlessness, injustice prevailing like tall green grass, like bursts of colors of spring flowers, but God says, “Don’t worry, the wickedness will not last. Look at Me, not at them.”
As we look at the Lord and commune with Him, He will reveal to us those who are caught in wickedness and darkness that He is calling to Himself in mercy. As we continue to seek Him He will teach us and anoint us by His Holy Spirit in us to intercede for these.
That is His Heart.
We have to be careful not to assume who these people are, God knows and He will reveal it as we sit at His feet trusting Him, praising Him and truly seeking Him with our whole hearts. It is in this place that our intercession is full of the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit who raised Jesus Christ from the dead! He will certainly do the same for those who are dead in wickedness and come to their senses out of the blindness of the enemy of our souls and they will be saved by the Lord Himself!
Lord anoint us, your people to pray for those around us who walk in darkness, please keep us from assuming who they are and be glorified in our intercession that they may be saved and set free in You, our soon coming King and Lord, Gracious Merciful Jesus Christ our Lord, amen
